2021

The 2021 CEU Colloquium theme will require us all to reflect and deliberate on issues such as: Decoloniality in our Scholarship of Engagement (SoE) practice; our SoE Model and Principles of Community Engagement (CE) at UWC; the importance, and different types of Community-University Partnerships required for impactful societal transformation; and the Institutionalization of our SoE to ensure effective measurement and reporting of our Social Impact as a locally impactful and internationally relevant Anchor Institution.

Ms Pearl September-Brown

Ms Pearl September-Brown has been employed by the University of the Western Cape as a researcher since 2012 in the Community Engagement Unit.

Prof Burtram Fielding

Dean Elect of the Faculty of Natural Sciences (UWC)

Prof Burtram Fielding is the Director of Research Development at the University of the Western Cape. He is also Dean Elect of the UWC's Faculty of Natural Sciences, a position he will take up in January 2022. Prof Fielding is a molecular biologist working mainly on coronaviruses since 2003.

Communication Manager (SAASTA)

Mr Michael Ellis is a science communication manager at the South African Agency for Science and Technology Advancement (SAASTA).

Mr Gasant Abarder

Manager: Media, Marketing and Communications (UWC)

Mr Gasant Abarder is the Media, Marketing and Communications manager for the University of the Western Cape. He served as editor of both the Cape Times and the Cape Argus over a career in mainstream media spanning 21 years.

Dr Cornel Hart

Programme Coordinator (UWC)

Dr Cornel Hart is the Programme Coordinator for the Bachelor of Community Development at the UWC. She has a Masters in Research Methodology - specializing in Programme Evaluation and for her PhD developed a micro-macro level model to assess integrative community well-being.

Prof Priscilla Daniels

Director: Community Engagement Unit (UWC)

Prof Priscilla Daniels Priscilla Daniels is the Director of the CEU at UWC and will deliver the Closure and word of Thanks.
